Yesterday, I took an Improvisation workshop for Life coaches. It was a workshop with Daena Giardella, an amazing actor, writer, creativity and acting coach.
While I was listening to her, I became more and more aware of the little space we give to spontaneity and improvisation in our lives. All the time, we strive to be perfect. We plan and follow rules, anxiously trying to avoid failure.
But if we restrict ourselves to what’s already tried and tested, how will we find new solutions and make exciting discoveries?
Daena says, “Improvisation is about making choices and daring to give them your fullest commitment even before you know why or where it will lead you.”
Improvisation! Oh! That’s a very interesting topic! A long time ago, I took acting classes. Not only it was a challenge to play on stage, declaiming my text and being part of the character at the same time, but also improvisation was part of the package! Some are more disposed to it. If not, training is definitively the way to go.
I’m not so sure whether one can really learn improvisation. I believe it’s less technique and more trusting yourself that everything will turn out okay even if you can’t plan every step on the way.
I am extremely irsniped together with your writingskills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid subject or did you modifyit yourself? Anyway stay up the nice quality writing,it is rare to look a nice blog like this one today..
Although I strongly believe that improvisation is primarily about character, I also believe that it`s learnable as e.g creativity.
Innovative creativity training is a sort of training that could help to promte improvisation.
